Chicago Spire - Chicago
The Chicago Spire is a supertall skyscraper under construction in Chicago, Illinois. The building was designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and is being developed by Garrett Kelleher of Shelbourne Development Group, Inc. At 2,000 feet (610 m) and with 150 floors, it will be the tallest building in the world after Burj Dubai (2,111 ft or 643.3 m) and Russia Tower (2,009 ft or 612.2 m) when completed in 2012. It will stand taller than Chicago's current tallest tower, Sears Tower and New York's upcoming Freedom Tower, as well as Toronto's CN Tower, thereby becoming North America's tallest free-standing structure and the world's tallest all-residential building. |
